Per Se

8 days in magnificient Yazd, where the word laziness is given its full meaning... people landing at the Silk Road hotel come and go, as everywhere else, some stay for longer, some others have no time and leave after a couple of days, on their way to Pakistan or coming from Pakistan, but at the end of the day all travelers met here were great backpackers, full of interesting stories, a lot of fun and nice evenings spent just chating around, smoking the qalyan (better known as nargileh or chicha in other countries), making new... Page pub

A blog I  really would like to recommand for their authors, Armelle and Vidian, their itinerary they had chosen and the high quality of their pictures: http://instinctnomade.canalblog.com/. The pictures are splendid, the texts are brilliant!!!! You'd wish to be there with them! And I had the chance to meet an very special and unique truck in Yazd, full of paintings about hopes and dreams, for a great touring exhibition around the world: 'show your hope'. Go and check that out on: http://www.80questions.net/

Satanic versus... (angelic?)

Titanic

Hard to find any kind of information related to an existing cargo shipping from Sharjah (UAE) to Bandar Abbas (Iran). Mais comme on n est jamais mieux servi que par soi-meme... I went there myself to check the story out. Jaipur, India to Sharjah, UAE with Airarabia. Very easy and cheap, schedule hours are not very convenient though (departure 3:00am...this is not human!). I went directly to Sharjah Youth Hostel (60 dirham/night... what a change compared to Indian prices!!!) to finish my night. Here are the contact details of the... [Lire la suite]

India House

Last post on India, after two fascinating, not always restful, months traveling into the North. A lot of colors, various strong smells, rickshaws and horns, noise, touts, curry and masala, met on my way... for better or for worse. At the end of the day, I had a pleasant time and had left the country my heart closed to the new friends made there... Namaste India! Accomodation Delhi       Vivek hotel, Namaskar Hotel (recommanded) 480Rs for a 3 beds room Amritsar       the Golden... [Lire la suite]

Tout un cinema...

Who knows me, knows that i am not a big movies fan... I'd rather stay home reading a good book (or alternatively go for a beer...) than paying 8 euros for a crap blockbuster. Twice a year maximum, mainly due to peer pressure, I would accept to enter a cinema. But that's a max. Yet, abroad, it figures as a sociologic experiment. In Jaipur, Rajasthan, going to the theater is a must-do. It is like entering Disneyland since it is designed as a kitsch creamy cake circle. A thick carpet softens your steps and the reclining chairs are a... [Lire la suite]

Iranian diplomacy - A Fine (Indian) Balance

Varanasi, Utta Pradesh, India Iranian consulate in Delhi or how to get your nerves tested by Iranian officials... It could have been a very simple and quick procedure... but it turned out to be a long 6 hours of waiting for almost nothing. The authorisation to issue my visa, granted 2 weeks ago by the MFA in Teheran, never got to Delhi. Problems of transmission they say. Problems of communication rather! The procedure is straightforward and hundreds of travelers use a private agent (as I did) in order to get their visa... [Lire la suite]
