Per Se

IMGP8976

8 days in magnificient Yazd, where the word laziness is given its full meaning... people landing at the Silk Road hotel come and go, as everywhere else, some stay for longer, some others have no time and leave after a couple of days, on their way to Pakistan or coming from Pakistan, but at the end of the day all travelers met here were great backpackers, full of interesting stories, a lot of fun and nice evenings spent just chating around, smoking the qalyan (better known as nargileh or chicha in other countries), making new friends, waiting for others to come...

Iran is depicted as to be inseperable from the "axe of evil"... That's probably the best joke ever heard! I have never seen a more peaceful place... and so modern as well. People here live in a unquestionable Western style. We went to a concert the other night, it was crazy, girls and boys screaming like hell, girls (over)wearing make-up and not being afraid to show their head uncovered for a lapse of... 45 seconds. Very indecent so to say! The national hymn, but the one preceding the Islamic revolution, has been sung in spite of the authorities presence. A wind of change is slightly blowing over Iran. Of course, it will take times. Freedoms are somehow restricted in a vast number of areas compared to our western countries. We don t build up hopes and dreams on running away from our home country as they do, we don t fear our politicians (well, except for the Texan ones maybe...), we can trust our neighbours (if you'd manage to get to know them...).  Yet, you can feel a silent and slow rebellion as to certain things.

And laziness is not the cause of the absence of pictures since my arrival in Iran... I just cannot upload them, I am myself the first one to feel sorry about this! Maybe once in Tehran...
